Barcelona food guide

This post is also available in: Bulgarian

On Friday I came back to Barcelona and I am currently trying to make myself realize that the festive season has passed. Thankfully, the weather here is helping me do that and is actually making me excited for the upcoming spring.

A few of my friends came to visit and others are planning to come in a month or two and being myself, I already started planning what to show them and where to take them so that they get an authentic Catalonian experience. One of the best things about Barcelona is the variety of sea food, tropical fruits and extraordinary vegetables. That’s why to get a real experience when visiting, I think that it is really important to actually go to the right restaurants.

This is the reason I decided to create a food guide with the places I have personally been to and that I think are worth going to. There is no specific ‘from good to bad’ order, because for me all the places are amazing.

Brunch and Cake

What makes this place unique is the way the chef combines different ingredients not only to make you plate so pretty, it is worth an Instagram photo, but also to actually create a very interesting and modern taste.

Flax and Kale

This was the very first place I went to in Barcelona and I think it is incredible. They literally have all the fruits and vegetables you can think of plus a million options of freshly made juices. In addition to that, the menu is so interesting and has so many healthy dishes plus extremely good acai bowls, that it is really hard to actually choose one.

Somewhere Café

We first found this place in Sant Cugat del Vallès, but there is also one ‘Somewhere Café’ in Barcelona. The atmosphere is very relaxing and because of all the different plants, it makes you feel like you are in a cozy garden. They have my favourite matcha latte and also different options of juices, smoothies and healthy dishes.

El Arbol

It is an amazing place for brunch, because they have different brunch menus, which include so many things you cannot actually finish it. They not only had amazing food and a great variety of fresh herbal teas, but also very cozy and eco interior.

Mala Hierba

‘Mala Hierba’ impressed me a lot, as they offered only organic dishes with products grown on their rooftop ecological garden. Although it is near to Park Güell, the place is not crowded and is mostly visited by locals. The food was very delicious and the cocktails were actually very interesting due to their organic touch.

L’Eggs

We actually found this spot few days ago, while looking for a place to eat. It caught our eyes because there was Christmas music playing and a super cute outside area, overlooking one of the biggest streets in Barcelona. We were so hungry that I didn’t have time to take a photo of the food, but it was extremely delicious.

Avocado Barcelona

Just like the name suggests, this place offers a lot of dishes with avocado. There are nachos plates with avocado, chicken and corn, which are literally amazing. However, one of the most unique things about the place is the avocado and chocolate shake. This not so typical combination is really really incredible for avocado lovers.

La Barca de Salamanca

The place is famous for one of the best paellas in town. The paella dishes are more than amazing and being the most typical food for Barcelona, it is definitely worth visiting. The place is very cute, but unfortunately as we were with a few friends, I forgot to take a photo.

I hope this food guide helps you to get a better experience when visiting Barcelona.

  1. I recommend you to try Malamen Bodega – that’s our all time favourite place, out of anywhere we’ve been until now 🍽
