Sofia Weihnachtsmarkt

This post is also available in: Bulgarian

With Christmas approaching, we are all looking for the perfect experiences to enhance the festive mood. That’s why I decided to go to the Sofia Weihnachtsmarkt.

Unfortunately, every year I am abroad when the Christmas market starts and I come back the day or a few days after it has already ended. This year is so special, because I finally have the opportunity to be home for the whole winter season. Being the kind of person, whose holiday mood usually starts right after summer, you cannot imagine how excited I am to finally go and explore the festive market in my hometown.

We decided to go on a Monday, so that there are not so many people and we can enjoy the maximum of the experience. Luckily the exact day we decided to go, it started snowing.

The market was very beautifully decorated with a big Christmas tree, lots of presents underneath and cute little houses. When they turned on the lights, it looked like a magical small town.

The small houses were actually shops for Christmas decorations, chocolate, presents and of course there were shops for German wurst, bacon on a stick and mulled wine. This year I decided to finally try eggnog and to be honest I loved it. It was so sweet that it literally felt like Christmas in a small cup.

I was really impressed by a small house, called the warm room, which was actually a place, where you could go to warm up. It was freezing when we went to the market, so this place was the most amazing part of the market.

Although Sofia Weihnachtsmarkt was smaller than the ones in other European capitals, I can honestly say that I enjoyed it the most, because it was well and thoughtfully made. For me it was so special also because I had the opportunity to actually share this festive experience with my loved ones.

I really hope that you love it as much as I did.
